I agree, Renee has a Huge pet family. Mine is much smaller. I am a dog person in a house full of cat people. My mother has a cat (more like a giant orange tabby male monster) named Strider, and I have my little Luna.
She's a Brussels Griffon Terrier mix. Very mixed. We really don't know what she is actually. She has the longest tail of any small dog I have ever seen. My mother theorizes that she could be a combination of a BrussGriff Terrier and a German Shepherd...and she's serious. I'm not far behind her. The tail is that long, and she "points" occasionally.
I rescued her from the side of the highway just beyond our rural road. She was dehydrated, exhausted, and disoriented. In other words, she was at the point where animals get when they loose all sense of direction and self preservation. She would very soon be run over. She was already dodging in and out of the traffic. That is what made me stop. I couldn't go to work when there was something I could do to prevent that. I'm so glad I did.
Initially I took her to the local shelter, just in case she had a loving family like mine that would miss her. I had already fallen in love with her, so I asked them to put a hold on her for me, should the owners not show up. No one came. Their loss, my love.
(Not the best picture, but she's such a stinker about my camera. This is an unusual moment where she's actually facing the lens. Best shot yet.)
