I also posted this in the August Nomination topic within the Book Club community. I wanted to get the word out about my idea. Do we have interest in these Book Club decisions?
I know we're all busy, but the Firefly Book Club is a great way to feel connected and learn with each other. It's our book club, we can do whatever we want! Such as...
- If we want to take more than one month to read a book, we can
- If we want to take less time to complete a book, we can
- If we want to have multiple book choices going at the same time during the month, we can
- If we want to create different "clubs" or "chapters" (ooh...that's a cute term, let's use that!) within the larger category of the "Book Club", yes we can!
- Some possible Chapters:
I had way too much fun coming up with these "chapter" themed titles...- The Otherworld (spiritual topics)
- Witches and Broomsticks (craft topics)
- The Realm of Fae (fairy topics)
- Fantastic Adventure (fantasy fiction)
- The Final Frontier (science fiction)
- Healthy Dose of Reality (non-fiction)
- Teen Dream (young adult fiction)
- Splatter Punk Ketchup Freaks (horror genre)
- ...
I like this idea, because I think we all have different tastes and moods. Although having only one book choice for everyone is unifying, it also deflects some people from participating. I think that reading should our main focus for this group. Let's get people to read with us! Even if a Chapter has only two participants...who cares! That's awesome. Friendships are formed under such conditions.
What do you all think about this?
